James Melvin Wakefield passed away on April 28, 2012 in Spaulding, Oklahoma. James was born on October 17, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to John and Celia Wakefield.
James served his country during the Vietnam conflict in the United States Army. A machinist by trade James loved aircraft and motorcycles. He also enjoyed camping, hunting, and working with cattle.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Stanley.
Survivors include his wife, Kay of the home, children Terry Don Wakefield of Holdenville, Victoria Paxton and husband Tim of Brisbane, Australia, Kim Smare of Oklahoma, Johnny Wakefield, Stephen Wakefield, and McKayla Wakefield all of Holdenville. Grandchildren Amanda, James, Brandon, Chris, Brandi, Lisa, Caitlyn, Zack, Taven, Da-Lonna, Johnathon, Angela, Jessie. Great-grandchild Kiara, special friend Zack as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, and family.
Funeral service is scheduled for 10:30am on May 3, 2012 at the Hudson-Phillips Chapel in Holdenville. Rev. Jay Badry will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tim Paxton, Johnny Wakefield, Stephen Wakefield, McKayla Wakefield, Zack Phillips, James Wakefield. Interment is scheduled for 2:00PM on May 3, 2012 at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Oklahoma City. Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
