Eugene Tiger, longtime resident of Holdenville, passed away in his home at the age of 76 on September 6, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Frances Jo Tiger, of the home; Amos and Joanna Tiger of Holdenville; Amanda and Don Cook of Wewoka; Lyndon Tiger of the home; Louisa Tiger of the home; Misselda and Doyle Hooks of Holdenville; Marschell and Keith Larney of Okmulgee; brothers: Woodrow Fields, Daniel Tiger, Johnson Tiger, Jr., Leon Tiger and Bob Tiger; sisters: Doris Anderson, Phyllis Lowe, Pat Herrod, and Mattie Lowe; a host grandchildren: Brandon Cook of Juneau, Alaska; Joe, John Jordon Cook, all of Wewoka; Kyra Tiger, Joshua and Elijah Hooks of Holdenville; and Damitris and Dezir’s Larney of Okmulgee.
Eugene served in the US Military at the age of 16 and was a Master Journeyman Welder in California. After moving to Wewoka, he worked for the Seminole Nation teaching the construction trade. Eugene enjoyed gospel music and attended every gospel singing that he could. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers and sisters.
Wake services are to be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Eugene’s home and the funeral service is set to begin at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, September 10, 2008 in Wetumka at the Wetumka Indian Baptist Church with Reverend Joe Bruner, Reverend Malcolm Tiger and Reverend Woody officiating. Pallbearers are Don, Joe, Jordon and John Cook; Darrell Lincoln, Keith and Russell Larney and Johnson Tiger. Honorary pallbearers are Lewis Wise, David Capps, Harold House, Sgt. Doyle Hooks (currently serving in Iraq), Emery Lincoln, and Brandon Cook..
